The WOLFPACK Completes Historic Port Visit to Menorca, Spain

USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) departed Menorca, Spain June 27, completing yet another successful port visit for the crew. Vice Admiral Harry Harris, Commander Sixth Fleet paid a visit to BULKELEY on June 25, its first day in port. Commander Anderson took VADM Harris on a short tour after speaking with the wardroom and Chief’s Mess to congratulate them on a successful deployment. Both officers participated in various events hosted by the Navy League, Spanish Navy, as well as the U.S. and British Embassies. One event was the Admiral David G. Farragut Memorial wreath laying ceremony, in which BULKELEY’s Color Guard took part in presenting the U.S. Colors. BULKELEY also had the privilege of having a reception on its flight deck, hosting various distinguished visitors, dignitaries, and senior military officials.
BULKELEY Sailors were able to enjoy the local culture and relaxing atmosphere during liberty. Many Sailors took advantage of the great weather by going to the beach while others sampled the local Spanish food such as homemade tapas, cheeses, and sausages.
In all, Menorca gave BULKELEY the “Red Carpet” treatment and the Sailors in return acted professionally while still having a remarkable time in town.
