CO’s Call and Gun Shoot

The Wolfpack assembled on the focsle in the morning for the Commanding Officer’s Call. All hands carried their CBR masks as part of a damage control drill. CDR Anderson and OSCS Gonzalez presented awards to several outstanding sailors who have distinguished themselves. IT2(SW) Brooks was awarded a certificate from the Department of Labor after completing several thousands of hours in the Military Apprentice Program. ET3(SW) Rivera, IC3(SW) Cheatham, and ET3(SW) Amparo were pinned today. Completing the rigorous Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) program, they have each achieved a major professional milestone in their high level of understanding naval shipboard systems and equipment. OSCS Gonzalez presented the Sailor of the Week award to ET3 Driggers. Well done to all and keep up the good work!

Later in the afternoon, the Wolfpack participated in a practice gun shoot involving the MK 45 MOD 1 5″/62 Caliber Gun Mount, MK 38 Mod 2 25 MM Machine Gun, and MK 15 BLK 1B Close-in-Weapons System (CIWS) 20 mm Phalanx.
